Daniela Bechly was born in Hamburg and established her career as a lyric soprano in opera houses throughout Germany, Austria and Switzerland before coming to live in the UK.
Her repertoire in opera, concert work and recording spans the Baroque to contemporary composers. Her Mozart opera roles include Pamina, Elvira, Cherubino, Susanna and Zerlina. She has performed as Rhinemaiden in Wagner’s Ring Cycle, Agathe in Weber’s Freischütz, Malvina in Marschner’s Vampyre, The Goose Girl in Königskinder by Humperdinck and Marguerite in Gounod’s Faust
Her extensive concert repertoire includes Strauss Four Last Songs, Mahler Rückert Lieder, Wagner Wesendonck Lieder and major Oratorios including Pergolesi Stabat Mater, Poulenc Gloria, Haydn Creation, Verdi Requiem and Beethoven Missa Solemnis.
Daniela has recorded Flowermaiden (Parsifal) under Barenboim, 4 Song Cycles for Soprano by Matthias Ronnefeld, Haydn and Beethoven Folksong Arrangements with the Trio Kairos, and Mahler 2nd Symphony arranged for two pianos and chamber choir for Musicaphon Kassel.
Daniela lives in Essex and is involved with the development of the Pimlott Foundation, which she established in the name of her late husband. Daniela enjoys a singing and teaching life, as well as a career, both in the UK and abroad.
She recently also trained as Reflexologist to balance out the “systems”.
