Richard Moore is currently in his second year of an MMus at the Royal Northern College of Music. Originally from Suffolk, he started singing as a chorister at St John’s College Cambridge under Christopher Robinson. He holds a BA Hons in Music and Spanish from the University of Sussex and also spent a year studying at the Real Conservatorio de Musica in Granada, Spain.
Richard has sung for Nevill Holt Opera, Longborough Festival Opera, Welsh National Youth Opera, RNCM Opera, Opera’r Ddraig, CoOpera Co and Barefoot Opera. Roles include Aeneas Dido and Aeneas, Sleep, Winter and Hymen The Fairy Queen, Antonio The Marriage of Figaro, Polyphemus Acis and Galatea, Peter Quince A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Louis The Wandering Scholar. Most recently he sang Mago Cristiano in Rinaldo for Longborough Festival Opera, covered Colline in La Boheme for Nevill Holt Opera and appeared as Aeneas in a concert performance of Dido and Aeneas at St Martin in the Fields. In Summer 2015 he will be singing in the Chorus at Buxton Festival Opera.
Richard has also held positions in the choirs of Gloucester Cathedral, Chelmsford Cathedral and St Martin in the Fields, and sings with groups such as Armonico Consort, Sestina, St Martin’s Voices and Musica Beata.
He studies with Peter Wilson at the RNCM and is very grateful for the support of The Pimlott Foundation.
